E.O.C Week 6: Review

How do retailers convey their brand image through their retail stores? Visit a retail and observe its atmospherics, store marketing, fixtures, customer service, and sales associates. Does the retailer convey a specific brand image to the customer? What is it? Is a story being told? How does the store space influence your opinions about the products being sold?

     The store i visited was Hot Topic. Their stores atmospherics are really important for them because their atmosphere defines what the store tries to represent. Hot Topic offers band apparel and accessories, licensed merchandise, fashion apparel along with cartoon and movie memorabilia. The walls are covered with stuff. There's a giant wall full of band t shirt selections along with Cd's, records, other clothing apparel etc.

          

Hot Topic found a niche and its name was music-influenced accessories. Whether it was fingerless gloves like Billy Idol or glam metal bootstraps like Poison, music was definitely the driving force behind teen fashion. After our Westminster customers gave us a reality check, we packed our bags, moved to Montclair, California and rocked their mall with the first Hot Topic store to carry all music-influenced accessories for teens.(Hot Topic)

Their accessories wall attracts me the most, and they have good deals in which you get a discounted item with the purchase of any jewelry. Hot Topic is for everyone from kids to adults, anyone who loves music is welcomed at their stores. They make it their mission to maintain the Hot Topic experience which includes a friendly staff, loud music blasting through the speakers, and lots of people looking around at all the cool stuff they've got. Brand image consists of Music, Crazy clothing, Rock n Roll accessories, Diverse and Colorful staff (Hot Topic does not discriminate against tattoos)

The store space and the way its presented its what ultimately completes the Hot Topic shopping experience. Its wild and out there just like them and covered in music from head to toe just like them. Their main influence is music and as long as there is music and music fans Hot Topic will continue to supply them with any knick- knack their heart desires.
