E.O.C Week 9: My Movie Style

Riot on Sunset Strip

My personal style preference is from the decade I should have been born in. The Revolutionary decade of the 1960's. I have always admired that decade and therefore I like to hunt for those real 1960's authentic clothes. The styles that i fantasize about include; 1960's psychedelic garage , surreal mod, native bohemian, boho british style among others. A movie that features some great 1960s clothing is the movie Riot On Sunset Strip. The actresses costumes are to die for. The textiles on the dresses and the way they are shaped highly appeals to me. Just the simplicity of the shape but the creativity behind it, is what makes me love the 1960s decade. They used over the top fabrics such as satin, fringe and lots and lots of paisley everywhere. From their dresses to their jewelry the 1960s decade was full of awesome creative clothing that stood out from the norm. They made several statements and the way the psychedelic fashion portrayed psychedelic music was genius. The Rolling Stones were covered in paisley they glamorized rock n roll with these lavishing jackets but simple trousers. In the movie Riot on Sunset Strip i am completely in love with the mini dresses and high boots. The strange and different textiles on the dresses and pretty much all of the print on 1960s clothing were unique. That's one thing about the 1960's fad they were crazy for textiles. As you can see in the images above i have also included some dresses created by Thea Porter who is one of my favorite fashion designers ever. That women is responsible for the revolutionary movement of the bohemian/ boho chic.
